Sometimes we think our lives are tough and perhaps unfair. But yesterday evening when I was heading to my friend Amélie, I had to drive by a mailbox to drop off a letter with prescriptions for my patients. It was dark and raining and as I mailed my letter, I saw a man in a wheelchair sitting in the rain in the dark. I took my umbrella out of the car and hurried over to him. He was old, overweight and I asked him if he had an umbrella. He said no, and told me the bus driver didn‘t see him and drove right by. I opened up the umbrella and handed it to him and wished him a Happy New Year and Drove away. He waved to me in the dark with a big smile on his face.
I knew I could never have lifted the wheelchair to have taken him home but at least I made an old invalid man happy. Isn‘t that what life is supposed to be? About making this world a little bit more beautiful? So no matter how tough life is, we need to be grateful for what we have. Don’t we? ????☂️
That last bit is so true. Gratitude is important for our mental wellbeing and our outlook on life. Every day I thank God for all his blessings and for the beauty of His creation. We must also remember to be the one in ten – when Jesus healed ten lepers, only one bothered to go back to Jesus and express his heartfelt thanks. When we thank people, we and they only think of what is good. In with the positive: out with the negative.
