The words “thank you” may suggest I’ve done something for you—or you for me. But that’s not the case. You have done much for me.
How strange this world is, full of give and take, action and reaction—when all should simply flow with kindness, with friendship, with giving for the sake of giving.
Not for reward.
Not for recognition.
Just because it’s in us to do so.
How much we fear what we do not know. How deeply we’re conditioned by what we do.
When can we let go of the past? The nightmares? The disappointments, the deceit, the betrayal?
When can we learn to trust again?
That is the moment we win: when we expect nothing in return and give anyway—because it’s who we are.
That’s when we understand life. That’s when we know love, friendship, caring and trust.
But when?
When is the day we finally let go?
When can we fly like angels, free from all we’ve learned to fear—able once again to embrace all we’ve known to love?
How strange this life is.
And now… to sleep, if it be possible.
To rest—had I only rest in my heart—and dream of hope that touches the soul like angel kisses from above.
So I seek to sleep.
And say:
Good night.
And may God bless us.
When shall we learn?
As for me, that when… is now.
